Group Tutor
Tutors facilitate collaborative group sessions for specific courses through culturally responsive pedagogy and active learning practices. We have a few types of group positions and the group support type is predetermined based on several factors, including class enrollment and historical utilization.
Pay rates (as of October 1, 2025): $22.14/hr for individual work and $28.52/hr for group work
Hours: Range per position from 4-16 hrs per week. All tutoring sessions are 1 hour long. Review the group tutor position descriptions below to learn more.
Position duration: Positions are for one quarter and we hire each quarter for fall, winter, and spring terms. Hiring takes place during Week 7 of the previous term. We do not hire new tutors for Summer term.
Returning tutors who have met performance expectations are prioritized for positions in the following term. We do not hire new tutors for summer term because STEV 96 is not offered at that time.
Modality: All tutoring sessions are synchronous and in person. There are no exceptions to hold online or asynchronous tutoring sessions. All sessions are pre-scheduled on TutorHub through the LSS Office based on the tutor’s availability.
Location: Tutoring sessions occur all over campus! LSS’s primary locations are the ARCenter, STEM Hub (Science and Engineering Library), and Oakes Learning Center. We partner with the Office of the Registrar to book classrooms in all the colleges on campus.
